Alan Sister Dies In Trade Fair Gas Explosion

Mrs Bridget Kyeremanten-Darko

The sister of Trade and Industry Minister-designate Alan Kyerematen, who was involved in the recent La gas explosion, has died.

Accra-based Starr FM quotes a family source as confirming that Brigitte Kyerematen–Darko died Wednesday morning.

Her death brings to 12 the number of casualties in the explosion, which occurred in December last year.

She was married to one Darko of GCNet.

The explosion occurred when the tanker emptying gas into the containers on site caught fire and torched the electric cables close to the gas station.

The Fire Service’s preliminary investigation into the incident confirmed that the explosion was caused by ‘irresponsible human error.’

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, while announcing the list of ministerial nominees at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, said his nominee for Trade and Industry Ministry could not turn up for the meeting because he was attending to the sister.
