DCOP George Alex Mensah
Personnel of the Accra Regional Police Command has organised a colourful send-off party in honour of the outgoing Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) George Alex Mensah.
DCOP Mensah has been sent to headquarters to take up the position of Director General of Operations.
Addressing personnel during his send-off party, DCOP Mensah thanked all officers under the command for the massive support they gave him during his tenure as regional commander.
He said their support contributed immensely to the success he chalked up as the regional police commander.
“I am grateful to everybody for working with me and for the support. It has been a successful journey and I must confess that your support contributed immensely to the successes we chalked up and I promise we shall continue to work together,” he said.
He stated that crime reduced during his tenure because of the hard work of the divisional and district commanders and urged them to support the incoming regional commander, DCOP Patrick Adusei Sarpong.
Prior to his appointment, DCOP Patrick Adusei Sarpong was the Director General of the Legal and Prosecution Unit of the National Police Headquarters.
Some officers took turns to commend DCOP Mensah for the good leadership he exhibited, and the encouragement he gave them during the emergence of violent crimes, especially when news went viral on social media concerning the misconduct of some policemen.
In an address, the Amasaman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Francis Yiribaare praised DCOP Mensah for the efforts he put in place to curb the activities of land guards at Amasaman and its environs.
“We have been able to bring down land guard issues in the area. The regional commander ensured that all land-related issues were handled with urgency and the cases which needed prosecution were dealt with. Those who felt untouchable and those who could not stand the pressure have fled from the area,” he said.
